Domestic Skips
What is a domestic skip used for?
A domestic skip is perfect for handling waste from home projects like renovations, garden clean-ups, and general decluttering. It’s a convenient way to dispose of large amounts of rubbish without the hassle of multiple trips to the local tip, keeping everything contained and manageable in one place.
What sizes of domestic skips do you offer?
We offer a range of skip sizes to match different needs. A 4 yard skip works well for small home projects, while a 6 yard or 8 yard skip is ideal for bigger clear-outs or DIY jobs. For bulkier waste, a 12 yard skip provides more space and is useful for large furniture or renovation debris.
What items can't go in a domestic skip?
Certain items can’t be placed in skips due to safety and environmental regulations. These include asbestos, chemicals, gas cylinders, wet paint, and electrical appliances like fridges or TVs. If you need to dispose of restricted waste, we can guide you on the best alternatives to ensure safe and legal disposal.
Do you offer same-day delivery for skips?
Yes, same day or next day delivery is available, depending on availability. If you need a skip at short notice, calling early in the day improves your chances of securing one quickly. We aim to provide a fast, reliable service so you can start your project without unnecessary delays.
Can I extend the skip hire period?
If your project takes longer than expected, we can extend your hire period for a small additional fee. Just let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll arrange an extension, ensuring you have enough time to complete your work without feeling rushed.
Commercial Skips
What is a commercial skip used for?
Commercial skips are designed for businesses, construction sites, and large-scale projects that generate high volumes of waste. They are commonly used for office clear-outs, shop refurbishments, demolition jobs, and construction work. If your business needs regular waste disposal or a one-time clear-out, a commercial skip is a cost-effective solution.
What commercial skip sizes are available?
We offer a range of sizes to handle different types of commercial waste. Our 10 yard and 12 yard skips are suitable for bulky but lightweight materials, while 14 yard skips provide extra space for mixed waste. If your project involves large amounts of construction debris, we also have roll on roll off (RORO) skips up to 40 yards.
What is a RORO skip, and do I need one?
A roll on roll off (RORO) skip is a larger container designed for high-volume waste disposal. These skips are commonly used on construction sites, industrial sites, and large commercial projects. If your business generates a lot of waste regularly, a RORO skip may be a more cost-effective and efficient choice.
Do I need a permit for a commercial skip?
If the skip is placed on private land, no permit is needed. However, if it is positioned on a public road or pavement, a council permit is required. We can handle the permit application for you to ensure compliance with local regulations, making the process simple and stress free.
How soon can a commercial skip arrive?
We aim to provide same-day or next-day delivery for commercial skips, depending on availability. If you need a skip urgently, contact us as early as possible, and we’ll do our best to arrange fast delivery so your project isn’t delayed.
Grab Hire
What is grab hire, and how does it work?
Grab hire is a quick and efficient waste removal service using a grab lorry fitted with a hydraulic arm. The lorry collects and removes large amounts of waste in one visit, making it ideal for construction sites, garden projects, and bulk waste disposal without the need for a skip.
Do I need a permit for grab hire?
No permit is required if the grab lorry can access waste from private land. However, if the lorry needs to stop on a public road for collection, you may need a temporary permit. We can advise you on any legal requirements and help you arrange the necessary permissions if needed.
Can I book grab hire for multiple loads?
Yes, if you have a large amount of waste that requires multiple collections, we can schedule additional visits as needed. Whether you need grab hire for an ongoing project or a one-time clearance, we can tailor our service to match your requirements.
How long does a grab hire collection take?
The collection process is quick, typically taking between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the volume and type of waste. Unlike skips, which remain on-site for several days, grab hire allows for same-day waste removal, making it a fast and efficient option.
Is grab hire suitable for all projects?
Yes, grab hire is suitable for both homeowners and businesses. Whether you are clearing out a garden, managing a construction site, or disposing of large amounts of material from a commercial project, grab lorries provide a flexible and efficient waste removal solution.
Wait & Load Service
How does wait and load service work?
Wait and load is a quick and efficient waste disposal service where a skip is delivered, you load your waste immediately, and it is taken away in one visit. This is ideal for areas where placing a skip long-term isn’t possible, such as busy streets or restricted spaces.
How long do I have to load the skip?
The waiting time depends on the service you choose. This gives you enough time to load your waste while ensuring the process remains fast and efficient. If you think you will need extra time, let us know in advance, and we’ll discuss the best option for you.
Benefits of wait and load vs. skip hire?
Unlike traditional skip hire, wait and load eliminates the need for permits and long term space commitments. Since the skip is collected immediately, there’s no risk of unauthorized waste being added. It’s a great option for construction sites, city areas, and projects with limited access or time constraints.
Do I need to be present for collection?
Yes, someone must be available to load the skip within the allotted time. If you are working with a team, it’s best to have everything ready before the truck arrives to speed up the process. If you need specific instructions followed, you can inform our driver before loading begins.
Can wait and load handle bulky items?
Yes, large furniture such as sofas, tables, chairs, and wardrobes can be loaded into the skip. However, electrical appliances like fridges and TVs may have special disposal requirements. If you need to remove bulky items, let us know so we can ensure proper disposal guidelines are followed.
